Fellow passengers resorted to an extremely risky tactic to rescue a girl, who got her head stuck in a barricade at a railway station in Patna, India.

Instead of pulling out her head gently, two men chose to push her entire body through the grill and then lifted her up.

The girl’s head had got stuck in a barricade that had been erected to stop people from falling over at the first floor of the platform.

“It was unwise. The girl would have dropped to the ground if they had lost grip of her,” said Sabir Mohammed an eyewitness.

“The men who rescued her kept laughing throughout without realising that they were risking her life,” he added.

Railway police said the eight-year-old-girl, Waheeda, had been rescued by the time they could reach the spot.

Waheeda was waiting with her family for a train on platform number 8.

She started playing with the barricade and put her head through the grill to peep down at the passengers getting into a train.

When she tried to get her head out, she found that it was stuck and that was when a few men on the platform rushed to help her.

Waheeda and her family, who were from Punia, managed to catch their train on time.
