Deliberate attempt to knock cyclist off their bike

I was on my way to work and was filtering through the traffic. My intention was to pull up behind the bus so that I could draft it along the road after the junction, however, the lights changed and I slotted in behind the silver car.

The driver of the white NHS van clearly did not like me moving in front of him, and immediately sought revenge. In spite of the fact that I was keeping up with the car in front and maintaining a safe and reasonable gap, he overtook barely leaving enough space and then, when he was alongside of me, he swerved suddenly to the left in an attempt to knock me off. The van's mirror briefly brushed my hand, and then the driver zoomed off.

The incident was reported to the Police via their online portal and was deemed eligible for a driver's awareness course, which he has paid for and attended. Personally I feel that a charge of at least careless driving should have been brought, but I will reluctantly accept what has happened and move on.
