Cat rescued from a storm water drain

On 5th October 2014, we received a desperate call for help from a young lady who's cat had taken a trip into a storm water pipe and gotten stuck.

Breaking away from the normal routine of rescuing humans from tight spaces, we decided to go have a look and take some equipment along to see if we could help.

When we arrived on scene the local folk had already managed to dig down to the pipe and expose a section of it, but the cat was still to far up the line. After sticking a camera into the drain and determining that it was full of leaves and sand, we got going with cutting open the pvc pipe and trying to pull the cat free.

A little over 2 hours later we managed to coax the cat down to the opening where I grabbed her and pulled her free and handed her back to her owner.
