A heartwarming video has emerged of a cat being rescued from a storm water drain in Durban, South Africa on Sunday.

The video, captured by a rescue volunteer, shows the crew helping to free a cat which had got itself stuck inside a PVC drainage pipe.

"When we arrived on scene the local folk had already managed to dig down to the pipe and expose a section of it, but the cat was still too far up the line. After sticking a camera into the drain and determining that it was full of leaves and sand, we got going with cutting open the PVC pipe and trying to pull the cat free'.

'A little over 2 hours later we managed to coax the cat down to the opening where I grabbed her and pulled her free and handed her back to her owner' the rescuer wrote online.
