A 17-year-old resident of Diva, Pooja Bhosale, had a narrow escape when she was pulled back into the compartment in the nick of time after slipping from the foot board of a Kalyan-bound slow train and on to the tracks between Ghatkopar and Vikhroli on Monday afternoon.
A video of the mishap, which shows Bhosale leaning out of the train and then slipping, was recorded by a commuter. After the video was circulated on social media, the Central Railway initiated a probe to ascertain the facts of the incident and the identity of the girl in the video.

Enquirers led the RPF to Bhosale on Tuesday, and they found her recuperating at home after being discharged from a hospital in Diva a day earlier.
“I had just put out my hand. I am unable to remember what happened after that. But I am lucky that people traveling in the same compartment reacted in time and not only saved me, but also my phone,” Bhosale told Mirror on Tuesday.
When asked why she was travel ling on the foot board, even though the compartment seems relatively less crowded in the video, she said: “I was talking with a friend on the phone and standing in the safe zone. Suddenly, when another train was passing, I just put my hand out and lost balance.”
Asked about the time and place, an RPF officer from the Central Railway said, “According to Pooja, the incident happened around 3 pm, sometime after the train crossed Vidyavihar. She reached Diva at 3.30 pm; her left hand was bleeding, and she contacted the station manager and told him she had fallen from the train. The station master not only administered first aid, but also sent her to Jeevdani Hospital with the help of the GRP, from where she was later discharged.”
Unhappy over the video being circulated, Pooja said, “I don’t know who shot the video and circulated it on social media, but I feel bad about it. It’s not good for me.” Sachin Bhalode, senior divisional security commissioner, Central Railway Mumbai Division, said, “After Bhosale alighted from the train at Diva, railway authorities acted promptly and sent her to hospital. Further investigations are on.”
