Hong Kong airport handlers caught throwing luggage onto trolley
Airport handlers sparked outrage after they were caught hurling passengers' luggage onto a trolley at the Hong Kong International Airport.
Marcela Walker, 35, recorded the video after flying Cathay Pacific from Xiamen to Hong Kong on September 27 on flight CX5617.
In the 37-second clip, two baggage handlers who are workers at Hong Kong International Airport are seen throwing check-in hold items from a conveyor belt into a cart.
The men are seen carelessly tossing suitcases, cardboard boxes and other fragile goods which had just been unloaded from the Airbus A320 short-haul aircraft.
Marcela said: ''This the way that our beloved luggage is treated. I made the video once my flight landed in Hong Kong Airport. I only wanted other people to be aware of the situation.''
The staff in the video were part of Hong Kong Airport Services, owned by Cathay Pacific Airways. The company has been handling luggage at the airport since 2008.
A spokesperson for Hong Kong Airport Services Ltd (HAS) said: ''The company is aware of the footage and has taken it up with the outsourced supplier involved.
''HAS takes the handling of passenger’s property seriously and we expect the same commitment from all of our suppliers. We sincerely apologise to the passengers of our customer airlines in this particular incident. We have since reminded our own employees and our suppliers again about the proper handling procedures.''
