Newsflare Edit - Rat filmed running across supermarket bakery shelf
++CLIENTS PLEASE NOTE: THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN EDITED++ This is the stomach-churning moment a rat was filmed scurrying across the bakery section of a Tesco store.
The footage was filmed in the city of Shah Alam in western Malaysia’s Selangor state.
A stunned mother was shopping in the store when she saw the rat and pulled out her phone to film it on July 16 at 9pm local time.
Alia Ismail, who captured the scene, said: ''I had second thoughts about buying the bread after this.''
In the footage, a large rat is seen scurrying among the bread items on the shelf.
For over 45 seconds it brazenly meanders around the foodstuffs until finally disappearing.
According to reports, when the outraged mother confronted Tesco staff, they admitted that the rat had been noticed in the supermarket.
She reported the incident to health authorities and the supermarket was ordered to carry out a clean-up.
A spokesperson for the Tesco outlet told local media that all the bakery items were destroyed.
The statement said that they had "also temporarily closed" the store to allow for "thorough rectification work to prevent future incidents".
The management apologised for the incident and the store has since reopened.
