This is the moment a brave motorist stops his car and walks through rush hour traffic to rescue a kitten that was stranded on the busy road.

The eagle-eyed driver noticed the tiny moggy as it came perilously close to being hit by passing cars in Bangkok, Thailand, on August 25.

Aun Wattana, 34, calmly pulled up and put on his hazards on before walking over to the cat and scooping it up in his arms.

He walked over to the pavement to check the kitten's health, then climbed back inside his car and dove away before releasing the stray cat on a patch of land where it would be safe.

He said: ''Every life is always worthwhile. Do not hesitate to help. This was the only chance to save the kitten from being killed so I had to stop and pick her up.

''I parked and opened the emergency light. After I stopped the traffic police saw the hazard light and came to help.''
