Torrential rain causing flash flooding killed at least 10 on the Spanish island of Mallorca on Tuesday, October 9.

The fast-moving flood waters more than a metre deep washed cars away as more than 20 cm of rain fell in four hours.

This video, filmed on a reopened road, shows cars piled to the side and two partially upturned vehicles.

Officials said more than 600 rescuers and medical staff were at work and that relief centres had been set up. The Spanish prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, flew to the island to offer support to the emergency services declared Sant Llorenç a disaster zone.

A number of death are still unaccounted for, local media reports.
