Hurricane Willa makes landfall on Mexico’s Pacific coast as Category 3 storm
Willa made landfall near Isla Del Bosque, Sinaloa, on the western coast of Mexico at around 7 pm on Tuesday, October 23.
The storm brought storm surges, high winds and heavy rains to the region. This video shows Cuale River, which runs through the resort town of Puerto Vallarta, overflowing with fast-moving water.
According to the National Hurricane Center, maximum sustained winds at landfall were estimated to be 120 mph.
Authorities expect Willa to weaken quickly as it approaches Mexico's mountainous terrains, and will bring rain by the time it crosses the US-Mexico border Wednesday.
