This raw footage shows British Big Wave Legend, Tom Lowe paddling into a tricky wave during a big session last week in Praia do Norte, Nazaré. After the wipeout, Tom managed to avoid being pushed further inside, but didn’t got so lucky with the next wave, the biggest wave of the set, taking an almost direct hit on the head. Tom then managed to get back outside paddling without jetski assist, and continued with his session, catching several other waves.

Tom Lowe, 34 years old, is one of Europe’s most experienced Big Wave Surfers with a worldwide reputation, with vast experience chasing Big Waves and Hardcore Slabs all around the world, he is also one of the most consistent chargers currently paddling into giant Nazaré without the help of a jetski.

Praia do Norte beach, near the fishing village of Nazaré, has become famous worldwide for huge waves in 2011, when Hawaiian surfer Garrett McNamara set a world-record for the largest wave ever surfed at 78-foot at the time, in 2017 that record was broken by Brazilian surfer Rodrigo Koxa, setting the bar at 80-foot.
