Nandita Hi Way, aged 3, and Aayu Hi Way, aged 18 months, died two weeks ago at Chester Zoo after contracting a deadly virus.

A team of vets carried out ‘groundbreaking’ blood transfusion in a bid to save the pair.

Footage captured on June 17 shows the baby calves happily playing together days before catching the virus.

‘’The disease is carried by both captive and wild elephants is mostly fatal, but Chester zoo still tried everything they could to save them, including blood transfusion. Heart-breaking news this morning as the two baby Elephants, the the feisty but loveable Aayu and his big half sister Nandita from the Chester Zoo have died from the deadly endotheliotropic herpesvirus ( Elephant disease) .

The elephant calves from the Chester Zoo are having some fun playing. Aayu Hi Way the older male baby in the herd decided to show off his strength by pushing his sister Indali of the slope. Later she gets her revenge, when big sister Nandita lends a helping trunk. Indali is giving her some extra strength by pushing the big sister, so she can push Aayu. Nandita decides than she had enough, but Indali gives her big sister a comon lets finish this nudge. While Nandita and Aayu pushing each other, Indali comes from the back and just decides to push both of them instead.
