Thousands gathered to watch as a giant pumpkin the same weight as a HORSE was dropped from a 175ft crane. The monster fruit, which tipped the scales at a whopping 1096lbs, smashed to pieces when it crashed onto a car. It was one of hundreds dropped from a height as part of the annual Utah Giant Pumpkin Drop, a Halloween harvest celebration. Between five and six thousand spectators turned out to watch farmers drop the prize-winning produce onto mannequins and into swimming pools.
