A dramatic video has emerged of two teenagers playing a dangerous game of chicken in waves caused by Typhoon Vong Fong in Okinawa, Japan on Sunday.

In the footage, captured by passer-by Dave Higgins, the two boys can be seen standing on a small promenade in Sunabe letting a succession of huge waves crash over them.

"I had never ever seen the seas this big in Okinawa," Higgins wrote online.

"These crazy teenagers were playing a game of chicken with these enormous waves crashing against the seawall. They are nuts!"

Miraculously, the two boys were not hurt, despite being repeatedly knocked to the ground by the force of the waves.

According to local reports, at least 35 people have been reported injured in Okinawa and Kyushu, where authorities told 150,000 people to evacuate, as the typhoon toppled trees, flooded streets and cut power to more than 60,000 homes.
