Ruddy Darter Dragonfly Sympetrum sanguineum male assuming the obelisk position on a hot day

This video is something of a departure as it is the first one that I have posted using material that has been filmed using a SLR, in this case a Nikon D850. I still find it awkward shooting in live-view (not least because manual focussing is required for subjects like this) but the quality of the images is rather good and the colour-saturation is excellent on this new camera. The film illustrates a male Ruddy Darter Dragonfly Sympetrum sanguineum assuming the 'obelisk' position in order to minimise his exposure to the hot sunshine but his attempts to retain this posture were being sporadically thwarted by a stiff and gusty breeze!
