The Carmelita village, in the northern province of El Petén, in Guatemala, is a small enclave surrounded by the tropical rainforest of the Maya Biosphere Reserve. A former Gum Collector Settlement established around a landing strip used by Big Gum Corporations in the early 20th. Century, now is a village that manages the sustainable extractions of resources from the rainforest, and also works the tourist routes into several archeological sites. It is the last enclave of civilization, in the northern Guatemalan rainforests.
