Rampaging elephant charges in to village damaging properties

A wild elephants entered the village of Meegaswewa in Ampara in search of food.The vigilant villagers noticed the elephant and chased the beast by throwing sticks and stones.The frustrated elephant started attacking the properties and motor bike in the house and tried to enter the house to steal food.Later the villagers informed the wild life officials.A team of 2 Veterinary surgeon and 21 wild officers joined for this mission to capture the elephant.After several hours of chase the wildlife officials were able to successfully tranquillise the elephant and brought under control and the surgeons provided medicines for its wounds.when the officials tried to shift the elephant to the nearby Horowpathana Elephant Orphanage the elephant refused to move and tried to escape from the ropes.Later with the support of locals the officials lifted the wild elephant with cranes and heavy vehicles and moved the elephant to Horowpathana Elephant Orphanage.
