This is the hilarious moment a friendly gibbon tried to play with a pet cat in Indonesia.

The amusing scene, which was filmed last month near Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, shows the gangly two-year-old ape chasing after the cat because he wants to play.

According to their owner, the two pets are friends and can often be found playing together.

However, the gibbon does have a habit of nipping the cat's back, which means the feline sometimes runs away.

Gibbons live in tropical and subtropical rainforests from eastern Bangladesh and northeast India to southern China and Indonesia.

Blacky, a 2 y.o male gibbon, likes to play with Kity the cat. Blacky chases after Kity wherever he runs.

Kity also wants to play with Blacky, but Katy doesn't like Blacky's habit of biting his back. Katy ran away and disappeared to make Blacky confused.

Blacky and Kity are Ismail's (36) pets, owner of a tourist attraction in the 'Inyiak' Tree House in the GeoPark Ngarai Sianok area, Bukittinggi, Indonesia.

According to Ismail, Blacky and Kity often play in cross-legged huts, playgrounds and trees. Their behavior often makes tourists laugh.
