Several people were injured on Saturday at a political rally in the city of Dewas in India when a stage collapsed.

The incident happened when dozens of supporters of local politician Jai Singh Thakur climbed onto the stage to garland him.

The structure could not take the weight of so many people and collapsed, sending the candidate and his supporters crashing to the ground.

Several party workers were treated for minor injuries.
