Hills around Pepperdine University charred as Woolsley Fire devastates Malibu
The Woolsley Fire continued to burn on Sunday, November 11, spreading to 85,500 acres and forcing thousands of residents to flee.
Los Angeles County fire strike teams and water dropping aircraft worked to contain the flames encroaching on Pepperdine University over the weekend. This video, filmed at around 2 pm on Sunday, shows the scorched hills from the George Page parking lot.
As of Sunday evening, the fire was 15% contained, up from 5% the night before.
Two deaths have been reported in connection with the devastating fire. Authorities added that the two victims were found dead in a charred car, and were probably fleeing and became disoriented when they were overcome by the fast-moving blaze. Three firefighters were reported injured, but no other details were available.
In Northern California, the 110,000-acre in the town of Paradise in Butte County has killed 29, making this one of the state's deadliest wildfire seasons.
