London Cycling - Argument with fellow cyclist
I have uploaded the raw footage, on my cycle to work on the 21st of August I overtook a group of cyclists that were slipstreaming each other. The cyclist, especially the lead cyclist where hugging the righthand side of the cycle lane (not leaving room for others to pass). I had to move into the road to pass them.
As I passed the lead cyclist, he drifted towards me right up to the white line. I moved out a little as I passed him and completed the manoeuvre and thought nothing more of it.
A few minutes later the lead cyclist caught up with me as I slowed for lights and complained that I passed too close to him. I told him that if he kept to the left hand side of the cycle lane (when not overtaking other cycles), then it left more room for faster cycles to pass.
We stop at the lights and he moves ahead, after the lights go green I catch up with him and he is on the right hand side of the lane again. This time I pass him on the left hand side as there is room there (you wouldn't normally pass on the left). He then catches me again as I pass another cyclist and cycles very close to me, closer than my original pass on him.
My view is that this guy didn't really have a problem with the closeness of the original pass (as he later comes even closer). I believe that he doesn't like being overtaken by other cyclists, and that is why he holds the right hand side of the cycle lane (to make it harder for others to pass him).
The original pass is at 35 seconds, argument starts at 1:57 seconds, I pass again at 3:25 seconds and then he passes very close at 3:33 seconds.
