A shop owner beat up and knocked a man trying to rob him with a knife out cold in southern China.

The CCTV video, filmed in Dongguan City in Guangdong Province on October 25, shows a man in a blue shirt with a mask playing on his phone while the shop owner is packing and counting drinks and cigarettes for him.

However, the man suddenly takes out a knife and points it at the shop owner to threaten him.

However the shopkeeper quickly reacted and the two men started a fierce fight under the blind spot of the security camera.

Eventually their struggle moved them on-camera again, where the shop owner can be seen beating the robber onto the ground and trying to pin him.

The shop owner’s wife called the police and they arrived quickly to arrest the robber, according to reports.

The shop owner and the robber had treatment in hospital, and were both in good condition.

The robber has been detained and the case was being investigated by police.
