A woman jumped off a platform to scare her boyfriend at Nanjing South Railway Station, just seconds before a train arrived, in order to "make a joke".

Shocking CCTV video of the scene shows a woman suddenly running to jump onto the tracks when a train is arriving, while a boy can be seen rushing after to pull her up.

Fortunately, she was saved just before the train arrived and the railway staff also gestured to stop the train.

According to reports, the 33-year-old woman, named Wang, had an argument with her boyfriend when they were waiting on the platform for the train.

Then Wang tried to scare her boyfriend by jumping off the platform without noticing that the train was approaching.

Wang said: “I just wanted to make a joke... Someone pulled me up right after I jumped. I was freaking out after I turned back and saw the train already past my feet."

The train was delayed because of Wang’s reckless act, and she has been fined the equivalent of £22 by police.
