A lawyer who spat at a flight attendant after she was refused more alcohol has been jailed for six months.

Simone Burns, 50, was filmed shouting at Air India cabin crew during a Mumbai-London AI-131 flight on November 10.

In a video shot by a flight attendant, the passenger can be heard saying: “I’m working for all your people. The f*****g Rohingyas, the f*****g people of all Asia, for you, an international criminal lawyer. Don’t get any money for it, by the way. But you can’t give me a f*****g glass of wine, is that correct?”

Air India sources said the woman drank had previously been drinking and turned increasingly unruly. She also smoked in the toilet although the smoke alarm failed to work.

On being informed, the captain instructed the crew not to give her any more alcohol. The woman responded by flying into a rage and demanding more drink.

After admitting charges, Burns was sentenced on Thursday (April 4) at London's Isleworth Crown Court to six months for being drunk on an aircraft and a further two months for assault.

Burns was ordered to pay a £300 as compensation to her victim who she assaulted.
