Hooded merganser with a fish catch
Winter and migration season in the PNW! Lots of lovely visiting migratory ducks, geese, birds and raptors visiting our shores and delta - including this lovely little hooded merganser who has just caught a fish! He will 'play' with it in his beak - maybe knocking flat the sharp gill spines on the fish so he can swallow it easier! Its a common behavior I've noticed! Love watching all the wildlife here! Fascinating!
