Subsiding winds have allowed firefighters to make more progress on the Woolsey Fire in Malibu and for evacuees to return home, media reported on November 15.

Since erupting last Thursday in Ventura County, the Woolsey Fire has charred 98,362 acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, destroyed 548 structures and damaged 157 others. As of Thursday evening, the fire was 62 percent contained.

Authorities expect that the fire will be fully contained by Monday.

Three people lost their lives in the Malibu fire, which forced thousands of residents to flee their homes when the fast-moving blaze broke out.
