Nine-year-old Mikalah Strickling was a bit fearful about trying the FlowRider – a surf machine that simulates riders riding a wave – so her father prepared her for it in their own backyard.

In the video, her father, Jacob Strickling, is seen pulling his daughter down the hill with a rope while she stands on a snowboard. A piece of cloth is laid on the grass, creating a smooth surface for her to glide down.

The clip then shows the girl on the FlowRider while on a Royal Caribbean cruise with her family, falling over a few times while attempting to balance.

"Mikalah later said that the real FlowRider was so much better then the homemade version!" Strickling told Newsflare.

Prior to going on a cruise with Royal Caribbean on the ship 'Ovation of the Seas' which has a Flow Rider on deck, this father made a simple one at home.
Jacob Strickling's daughter Mikalah (aged 9) had trepidations about going on the Flow Rider (a continuous flow of water up a ramp) on the ship and so Strickling wanted her to get accustomed to it first.
He put a large piece of shade cloth on a grass slope and pulled his daughter down the hill with a rope while she was standing on a snow board.
Mikalah later said that the real Flow Rider was so much better then the homemade version!
