Public school employee admits using racial slur in parking row
A white public school employee in Maryland admits to using a racial slur during an argument over parking.
The filmer approaches the woman as she exits her vehicle, saying, "did you just call my husband the n-word?"
"Yeah, I did," the woman, who is a librarian, responds. The filmer then pursues her saying "next time you're going to say it to the wrong person, and they won't be as nice," adding that the clip will be going on the internet.
The clip has since racked up more than 150,000 views.
"How dare she talk to my husband that way and in front of me and my children," the filmer wrote as she posted the clip. " I thought was so profound is that she was proud of it and didn't try to deny it."
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released a statement condemning the usage of the slur on Friday.
“While we’re glad the school system has placed the employee on leave while this incident is being investigated, it’s disturbing that one of its representatives exhibited such unabashed racist behavior, especially in the presence of children,” said CAIR Director of Maryland Outreach Zainab Chaudry.
“We expect that all employees - especially those who may influence curriculum or have direct contact with students - receive appropriate diversity and anti-bias training.”
