A leopard cub was spotted hiding under parked cars in northern India this morning (November 27) and was later rescued by forest officials.

The cub, believed to be separated from its mother, was sighted near the district courts complex at Chakkar near Shimla in Himchal Pradesh state.

A forest range officer reported: “The rescue team reached the spot and captured the cub using a net instead of a tranquillizer gun and took it to Tuti Kandi Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre.”

Catching hold of the cub was not an easy task for officials as it kept shifting spots beneath the parked cars. A veterinary doctor will examine the cub at Tuti Kandi and subsequently, it will be released in its natural habitat.
