A leopard cub was sighted near the district courts complex on Tuesday morning at Chakkar in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh in India. The wildcat was later rescued by the forest officials once the police informed them about it.

The cub was seen hiding under a parked vehicle which sent ripples of panic among the residents. The people raised an alarm and called the police to their rescue. In spite of the case that doesn’t fall under the police jurisdiction, they informed the forest officials without any delay.

Range forest officer Himanshu said, “We received a call from the police control room located at Mall Road about the presence of the wildcat under a parked car. We rushed a team of rescue officials and captured the cub using a net instead of a tranquillizer gun and took it to Tuti Kandi rescue and rehabilitation centre.”

The forest officials took almost more than half an hour to rescue the nervous leopard as it kept shifting its spot on seeing the officials. The cub will be examined by the vet before it is released into its natural habitat.

It seems that the cub was separated from its mother and the forest officials hope to reunite it with its mother as they are trying to discover the trails of the animal.
