A dog in southern India was spotted helping relief workers to clear a road after cyclone Gaja battered the area.

Footage shows the dog picking up a branch of a fallen tree using its mouth and dragging it to the side of the road in Tamil Nadu.

The branches of the tree had fallen in the middle of the road during the cyclone.

Once the cyclone receded, the municipality workers started clearing the fallen trees from the road.

According to witnesses, the dog saw the efforts of the workers and decided to help them.

Cyclone Gaja killed at least 46 people and forced thousands to evacuate.
