A woman in an Indian village, called Radhika, gave birth to a baby girl with three arms on November 6.

The couple has named the daughter Deepanjali, who has become the centre of attraction in their village near Bilaspur, Chattisgarh, India.

The family is getting visitors, who want to see the baby girl and take her photographs. Many have told the family that the girl with the extra though deformed limb will bring them prosperity.

The couple, who have two sons, are happy to have a daughter, who is healthy and weighs 2.5 kilograms.

But they are also concerned that the third arm may come in the way of their daughter leading a normal life.

A local doctor has told the couple that the third arm is from a parasitic twin and can be removed surgically. The slightly bewildered couple are planning what to do next.

Radhika said: “We are a poor family and we are worried about her future. We request the government to help us.”
