A man gets the fright of his life after discovering a snake sneaking inside one of his shoes in India.

The video, captured in Bankura district of West Bengal, shows the intruder taking shelter inside the shoe lying on the stairs of a house.

In the video, the reptile can be seen slithering.

Pramod Mandal, who shot the video, said: "I had come home for lunch. As I stepped out the door, I found one of my shoes at the doorstep. The other from the pair was seen lying on the stairs. I knew it was the handiwork of my young son, he keeps tossing things around.''

''As I dashed towards the stairs to fetch the shoes, I froze on track after spotting a snake slithering into the shoe. For a moment, I didn't know what to do. Then I decided to capture the entire thing on my phone," said Mandal, a small-time businessman dealing construction material.

Mandal can then be seen zooming in his cell phone and nudging the reptile. Visibly disturbed, the snake sticks its tongue out in protest.

Knowing that it was not a prudent thing to tease the snake, he decided to wait it out and record the entire incident. Much to his satisfaction, the snake finally came out of the shoe after hijacking it for around 30 minutes and made a speedy retreat.

Mandal said, “I usually don’t see what is inside before wearing my shoes. I could have got hurt and hurt the animal too had I not seen it. I was lucky to spot it while entering into my shoe else I could have lost my life.”

A snake charmer was later called in and the snake was rescued to be released into a nearby jungle.
