A dramatic footage has emerged of the demolition of a 100-year-old bridge in Thane, Maharashtra, India.
The bridge that connected Murbad and Shahapur area in Thane district of Maharashtra was built on the Kalu river.
The administration blew off the ramshackle pool on December 3 around 4 pm through a controlled blast.
According to the Maharashtra Public works department, the pool had become derelict. The officials had given prior intimation to the general public about the demolition.

This prompted thousands of curious onlookers to throng the demolition site. The reason for this was that the bridge connecting the two areas was in a very shabby condition. A year ago, the movement of large heavy vehicles was also stopped on this bridge.

The bridge was declared unfit for traffic movement. The state plans to build a new bridge in the same place. According to the authorities, they will invite tenders for the same soon.
