Skin-crawling video shows the moment a python slithered down from the roof and caught a RAT.

Shocked resident Non Wattana noticed the terrifying scene after returning home from work at night time on October 29, in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 12ft long python had already half swallowed the rat, with only its two hind legs and tail hanging from its mouth.

He knocked off the snake - depriving it of its hard-fought catch - and caught in with his bare hands on the kitchen floor.

Non said: ''I was not afraid of the snake. This shows how useful they can be. It caught a dirty creature and helped to keep my kitchen clean.''

The garage mechanic released the snake into the nearby bushes without feeling the need to call the emergency services for help.
