Dreary scenes along Pacific Coast Highway as heavy rains hit Woolsey Fire-ravaged city

A rainstorm pummeled the Los Angeles and Malibu area on Thursday, December 6, causing mudslides and floods in the area burnt by the Woolsey Fire last month.

Early this morning, downpours sent a deluge of mud onto Pacific Coast Highway, which was closed in both directions from Trancas Canyon Road to the Las Posas.

This video, filmed near the highway, shows waves crashing against a dreary afternoon sky and a fast flowing river of floodwaters.

According to local reports, flooding is more likely after fires, when burnt debris collects on hillsides and prevents the soil from absorbing the rainfall.

Showers are likely through the night with sun forecast for later in the week.
