This was the moment an Indian policeman saved a woman’s life by holding on to her for over a minute.

The woman crouched and held still as the train sped on the tracks. A small slip would have sent her tumbling down to her death.

The incident occurred at Samastipur, Bihar, India on December 4.

A couple from a nearby village, Kedar Singh and his wife Sangeeta Devi, had gone to the station to catch a train to Hajipur. When they saw the Vaishali Express train leaving platform number 7 they rushed to get in.

While Singh managed to get in with the luggage, Devi slipped and fell on the platform.

Railway Police Force (RPF) constable Brajesh Singh, who was on duty on the platform, saw the woman slipping and rushed to help her.

While he got hold of her, there was not enough space to pull her to safety. He held on to her to stop her from falling into the gap between the platform and the speeding train.

The terrified woman stayed still trusting Brajesh Singh to take her full weight. Onlookers who gathered could be heard telling her to stay still and retract her legs a little.

Brajesh Singh pulled up Sangeeta Devi after the train passed.

RPF Inspector Alam Ansari said the Brajesh Singh would be rewarded for saving the life of the woman.
