Shocking footage emerged from a school in Romania last week as a biology teacher attacked one of his students with a chair.

Video of the scene captured on December 4 shows the class at a high school in Ploiești, central Romania, seated normally before a young male student is forced to stand up and dodge to avoid his teacher, who came swinging a chair at him.

Reports say that the 7th grade student, aged 13-14, made a comment which the teacher took particular offence to, causing the teacher to chase the student with the chair, striking him.

The boy's mother was not informed at first about the attack, but later found out after her son would be receiving low grades from the biology teacher, and had unexplained scratches on his head, prompting him to explain to her what had happened.

She then confronted the school principal who informed her that the teacher would be banned from teaching, with other parents noting that this was not the teacher's first abnormal outburst.
