An amusing video has emerged of an elderly man driving with a missing front tyre on a motorway in Montreal, Canada on Tuesday.

The video, captured from the passenger seat of an adjacent vehicle by Gabriel Fournier, shows the man continuing to drive despite the tyre-less rim of the wheel scraping against the road, causing it to burn red-hot.

Despite the best efforts of Fournier and others to warn the motorist of the danger, the driver travelled over two kilometres without noticing the fault.

"We followed him for over two kilometres, telling him that it was dangerous and that he should stop. But after 10 minutes, we gave up and contacted the police. We later heard that the old man had been stopped by a police officer and that he had a severe hearing trouble, which is why he did not seem to react," Fournier wrote online.
