Lobster Boat And Day Beacon Beverly Massachusetts
The lobster boat Pamela B passes the Monument Bar Day Beacon as it enters Beverly Harbor in Beverly, Massachusetts. Day beacons are navigational aids built out of granite, mostly in the 18th and 19th century. Some of them survive today. The much larger granite Bowditch Ledge Day Beacon near Misery Island in Salem Sound just recently collapsed during a storm.
