Heartbreaking video shows a baby monkey crying over the body of its dead mum in Uttar Pradesh
A baby monkey was filmed crying over the carcass of its mother in a heartbreaking video that has emerged from Uttar Pradesh in India.
The mother was knocked down by a speeding car while she was crossing from one side to the other side of the Bareily-Badayun road in Uttar Pradesh, India.
The baby, seeing its mother had been hurt, rushed to its side and tried to wake her up but the dead mother remains unmoved to the tears of the baby.
The video captured by the road passers show the squeaking baby smeared in blood while trying to wake up its dead mother who lies in a pool of blood.
The baby keeps hugging its mother continuously as it refuses to leave by its side. A man from the group can be heard saying, ‘The mother is dead, what to do with the baby’ another man replies, ‘Leave her in the jungle some monkey may find it.’
The baby monkey continuously cries as one person tries to release the baby from its mother. The baby refuses to let go of the carcass and sticks to it.
A villager who also was on the spot, later took it to be buried with last rites as Monkeys are considered to be in the shape of the monkey god Hanuman and any dead monkey is buried with religious rites.
The baby was later handed over to the forest department to be released into its habitat.
