Parked driver spots EXPLODING TRANSFORMER sending sparks everywhere

Buy video

This happened at noon on Friday December 14th in Roseburg Oregon near the intersection of Harvard and Stewart Parkway. It was a beautiful sunny morning with no cloud in sight during my first morning break around 11am at work. All of a sudden just before lunch the power kept going out and we could hear the wind blowing like crazy. We got let go early for lunch due to the intermittent power and when we stepped outside it was like the zombie apocalypse had begun! Complete chaos everywhere. We live in an area that rarely gets storms, definitely no hurricanes or tornadoes. Well this wad everything rolled into one. Cars were being shook so hard from the wind that alarms started going off. Debris was flying thru the air. I felt it was vital to get the heck out of the parking lot before my car was pancaked by an airborn car. Just a block from work and I see the power pole shooting bright light across the power lines. A large tree had snapped in half and brought down part of the power lines with it. The light show lasted for quite some time before the transformer eventually exploded. The sound of all that power surging across the lines was intense. I was expecting it to fall and pull down the poles on my side of the street at any moment... so I moved to the safe side of the pole just in case. In retrospect, with that amount of power there really was no safe side!
