A major fire broke out on Monday at a Mumbai hospital killing at least 8 people, disaster management officials said. About 100 people have been rescued so far.
The fire brigade got a call around 4 pm about the blaze at the government-run ESIC Kamgar Hospital located at Marol in suburban Andheri.
10 fire engines were sent to the spot, officials said, adding that efforts were on to douse the flames and evacuate the patients.Around 108 people were rescued and several patients were shifted to Cooper Hospital (Andheri West), P. Thakrey Hospital (Trauma), Jogeshwari (East), Holi Spirit Hospital and Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri (East), at the time of filing this report.While 8 people were earlier rescued from stair case. some people can be seen coming out of window to get rid of fire
