Exotic Vietnamese water puppetry on display
Vietnamese water puppetry also has known as " Múa rối nước" in Vietnamese. This art originated in the 11th century in the villages of northern Vietnam.
The Puppets made from wood and bamboo. A long bamboo rod is connected from the puppet to the puppeteers. The puppeteers stand behind a curtained backdrop in a pool to control the puppets. They will have to take a dip in the water to perform with puppets. During the performance, you can only see the puppets. They have to practice for many years to control puppets remotely through bamboo bars. The water puppetry is performed in a pool of water 4 meters square with the water surface being the stage.
The video records the stage performance of the play named "Korean Dance". This performance is dedicated to Korean tourists in Hue city, Viet Nam. At the beginning of the show, two dragons symbolizing strength will perform the flame and water. There are four puppets in traditional Korean costume and traditional Korean dance performances.
