A baby monkey was left orphaned after its mother died right after its birth at Kadri in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh in southern India.

The monkey was pregnant and went into labour while it was on the top of a tree. It then tried delivering the baby on the tree top but unfortunately its feet lost the grip from one the branches soon after the baby was out of its womb.

With the umbilical cord still attached to the baby, both of them fell on the ground. The mother somehow managed to save its baby as it kept the baby on its top during the fall.

The mother hit the ground with a thud and died on the spot. A few men who saw the mishap unfold rushed to help the ape but found it dead with its new-born baby sitting alive beside it.

In the video, the monkey can be seen lying dead with blood all around her while its new-born baby weeps near it.

A man identified as Pavan Nagesh (24) who saw the umbilical cord still attached to the ape then brought a blade and cut the cord separating the baby from its dead mother.
