This is the moment a leopard is trapped inside a chicken coop.

As soon as leopard entered the coop, alert residents closed the door locking it inside.

Realising that it was struck inside, and also due to the commotion outside, the leopard got too stressed and showed no interest in making a meal out of the birds.

The dramatic incident occurred at a village in Junnar district on December 18.

The villagers of Otur spotted the leopard and trapped it inside the coop of a house near a sugarcane field. They then called the forest officials, who came with a Wildlife SOS team, to rescue the animal.

The rescue team tranquilised the leopard and took it away Manikdoh Leopard Rescue Centre (MLRC) in Junnar, from where it was later released in a forest after it recovered from its trauma.

Alok Kumbhad, an Otur resident, said: The villagers found the leopard inside the coop at 7 pm. As it was locked inside and the coop was too small it did not kill the birds."
