Young Australian girl makes slip 'n slide for cousins

While the western hemisphere mourns the absence of sunlight over the winter holiday period, some young Australians have been celebrating in style.

On Christmas Eve on the central coast, around one hour north of Sydney, 12-year-old Mikalah made her own slip 'n slide to stay cool with her brother and cousins in the heat.

"Using black builders plastic, pegs, a rug, polystyrene panels, timber sheeting, pipes, a kiddies pool, petrol pump and hose, Mikalah (with a little help from her dad) made this awesome waterslide which recycled the water using the kiddies pool and the pump," said her father, the filmer.

"The kids had awesome fun sliding down on their tummies and backs and even on a surf board."
