Police in Dhabaleswar Gada, located in the eastern state of Odisha, chased off a wild elephant that had entered the village on the night of December 24.

According to local media, police first attempted to drive their vehicle behind the elephant but it then began charging towards it. The video shows the frantic chase as sirens blare.

Locals were advised to stay indoors and choose alternative routes for transportation during the dangerous incident.

On night of 24th December around 10 PM one Tusker enter incide CDA area of Cuttack. Petrol lying police started running vehicle behind this Elephant. But Elephant rather tried to charge the police vehicle. Police personnel started all its sairan and drive car behind elephant and chased Tusker away towards Dhabaleswar Gada area
A joint team of the Forest officials and police had undertaken the operation to drive away the elephant

While vehicular movement was prohibited in the area to avoid any untoward incident, locals were advised to stay indoors and choose alternate roads for communication.
