A woman gave birth to a baby on a railway platform in Mumbai, India, on December 24.

Geeta Satayya, 21, had gone to Dadar station to catch a train to Pune with her husband and two children.

As the pregnant woman felt labour pain, the railway police personnel in the vicinity rushed to help her.

They created a makeshift labour room with bedsheets in which she delivered a healthy baby.

The mother and the baby were later rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors say they are both doing well.

As they created a makeshift labour room with bedsheets she delivered a healthy baby. The two were later rushed to the nearby Sion Hospital, where doctors said both were doing well.

Police said they summoned an ambulance, but the woman was not in a position to be carried out of the platform.
