In a strange turn of events, a calf was filmed chasing a lion in an Indian town.

The footage shows the calf following the young lion intently. As the lion begins to run, the calf sprints behind it, making the predator run faster.

The incident took place at Barmod village on the outskirts of Gir forest at Amreli in Gujarat, India.

A forest official said the calf probably got separated from its mother and followed the lion by habit. The lion, young and inexperienced, got frightened in unfamiliar surroundings and decided to run.

Lions frequently stray into villages and towns on the outskirts of Gir forest looking for food.
